Entry#7-Thought for English-

Blog Residue

Honestly I was not happy to find out that I would have to publish my own thoughts (in blog format), on the web for everyone to read.. It is not because Im not sociable or anything; I believe it has more to do with my inexperience as well as being "out of shape" in the types of writing that I have already learn. By this, I only mean that I have not been in school for a long time so I am not use to the environment.

moving forward, I started taking blogging a little more seriously since that was the most simplistic form of developing my ideas for my writing projects. Also I have figured out that the instructor that assigned these blog periods, did indeed have a purpose. By this, there was a definite link to the blog topic corresponding with the subject of our separated writing projects. With this, my analytical interpretation that I presented on Blogger, ensured that I understood what I needed to include in my writing project context.

Because I was trying to adapt into a student, I did not take blogging serious (at first); Besides what skills could possibly be strengthen from this kind of task? Well not long after I criticized the technique, I slowly began seeing a change within my writing process. Then it became clear to me, blog writing is a type of writing process! In fact, it is an ideal method since it's easy to understand and to teach.

I do feel that this was a valuable experience because I can not remember the last time I was forced out of my comfort zone in a productive direction. I am not claiming that it was an easy assignment, but It was useful because it taught me a different way of writing and more important, a different way of understanding.

Another aspect of Blogger's worth, is the helpful incite that I receive from my peers. It makes the in class setting much more comfortable as well since everyone communicates on a regularly. My most utilized advantage of posting, is that I have the opportunity of receiving my instructors opinion thoughts, or guidance regarding my not only my academic for of writing but also he sees how my more casual writing is executed which I then have feedback on multiple writing forms.

Entry #6 Freeman-Sheldon Syndrome

100 diagnosis have been reported since 1983

Freeman-Sheldon Syndrome

  Affiliated Names:

-FSS

                                                 -Whistling Face Syndrome

Rare form of MCC, Multiple Congenital Conjectures Syndrome

The topic I have chosen to share is about a chromosomal disorder that has become a park of my life since beginning of last year. I am still trying to familiarize myself about this syndrome and what it means to the person that is affected by it; how their quality of life is impacted. Unfortunately, I have a hard time retaining information regarding this subject. Plus, my mind becomes restless every time I consider learning anything related to it.  Basically, I hope that by focusing on Freeman-Sheldon Syndrome within my blogging, I will be more comfortable dealing with this genetic mutation.

By definition, Freeman-Sheldon syndrome is a condition that primarily affects the face, hands, and feet. People with this disorder have distinctive facial features including a small mouth, with pursed lips, giving the appearance of a "whistling face." The reason, the condition is sometimes called "whistling face syndrome." is because of this unique characteristic.Another issue that is present with this disorder is difficulty swallowing, a failure to gain weight and grow at the expected rate (failure to thrive), and respiratory complications that may be life-threatening.  Moreover, speech problems are also common in this disorder and hearing loss may result as well. Even though intelligence is usually unaffected with Freeman-Sheldon syndrome Cases, approximately one-third have some degree of intellectual disability, or delay.

Freeman-Sheldon syndrome is a rare disorder; its exact prevalence is unknown. In Most cases, the inheritance pattern is unknown. Therefore, the parents of an individual, with this disorder, each carry one copy of the mutated gene, but they typically do not show signs and symptoms of the condition.

        So why is this particular disease such a controversy to me or even important at all? Well first off, No , I am not a candidate for FSS;

..... However I may just be a carrier.

My first child is a beautiful little boy who has done nothing but fight for his life since the day he was born.  In fact, that fight continues today and most likely for the rest of his life. Christian has been diagnosed with Arthrogryposis, Bilateral Club Feet, Multiple Congenital Conjectures (MCC), Chromosomal deletion, dysphagia, neurological delays, Trach dependent, G-tube supported, and the highest severity of Epilepsy.  Surprisingly, This list is not the complete background to my son. He also has "unknown/to be determined' complications. Presently, his medical team and I are working towards finding answers about my son's DNA mutations. After approaching many dead ends, I was recently advised that the Freeman-Sheldon Syndrome is most likely the main contribute to the complications Christian is experiencing.

......Wow, that is a difficult bite to chew..

With that being said, I feel that my purpose for my selected topic has been achieved. I feel more at ease with whatever will come in the future.

Entry #5 Food INC. Reflection

Food INC. Trailer

 (Provided by U tube)

This trailer summarizes an eye-opening film that analyses two very different ways that farmers market and produce livestock. At first glace, it seems to be a made up scenario that is used to introduce another suspense movie. However halfway through the introduction, it becomes bluntly clear that this problem is a present day issue, Unfortunately,  it appears to be foreign to our fast paced economy for the simple fact that it is easier than dealing with the problem, I have decided to no longer let the debate go unnoticed.

One aspect of  how our food is produced to us is through corrupt corporations that are protected by the federal government! By this, I mean the USDA and the FDA which I was under the impression that these divisions were in place to regulate the nation's best interest. Also I am confident that others believe this fairy tale as well. In reality, the actual influence is strictly the industry's greed for money.
Major corporations work against independent farmers by producing mass quantities of the world's food supply, at a much cheaper price. Alongside demeaning the value of an animal's purpose in life by poor living conditions and toxic food supply. Ultimately, sacrifice is society's health, natures environment, the circle of life, and most humble morals.

On the other side of corporate schemes, is how food was originally supplied by independent farmers. That process is similar to how the circle of life already functions. In short, it starts with the grass, that is eaten by the animals and later digested, and so fertilizer then nourishes the grass. By this process, natural instinct provides the means that is necessary for the environment to survive. This is crucial because as humans, we benefit off of whatever the land has to offer. If money hungry enterprises continue to control and take over the food industry, mother nature will rot and the land will have nothing left to over civilization.

With this in mind, I can not help but feel sick to my stomach and utterly furious about the disrespect businesses bestow on us as consumers. Not to mention, their families! The behind the scene structure of where our economy is currently and the prominent forecast of where it will reside in the future, is kind of disappointing. I wonder, if there were a way to send out a world wide memo that illustrates the tragedy to come, would people have the courage to try something new; so that our environment will flourish.

What is one reasonable change that everyone could make; that would have a positive impact on the crisis ahead?

PostSecret

Post Secrets

I came across this web site while searching for a blog idea ( as usual). The page is composed of tons of blog clips that were sent in from all over the world. The unique to part is that the purpose of this bulletin is to create a "safe" place for people to express their deepest secrets! I could not help but think, "wow that's very simplistic yet brilliant  concept that someone established.

I started to think about what it would be like to post my deepest darkest secrets for the world to see.. And honestly, to me, it's just as hard as telling a friend that Ive known for years,I think. Despite my name not being on it, I know that it's mine and for me they are parallel.

Another thought I had was about our society and how this reflects our character. It is unfortunate that we live in a world where we cannot be a hundred percent with one another.  Obviously, hundred percent honesty is not realistic. However, that leads me to my next question of why not?

Regardless, I think this is a wonderful site and very interesting to see what goes on in people's minds and I also think it is fascinating that so many of the posts are very similar to the same thoughts I have had. So if everyone has similar thoughts why is it so difficult to say them out loud? Follow the link below and let me know your thoughts

I wonder what I would post.
What would you post?

--Taste A Blog

Random Blog Thoughts

I have't ever paid much attention to blogs or their contents until a recent glimpse caught my eye. I did not realize there was more to them than social media and entertainment. Apparently, the difference is established on the author's either formal (Informative) or informal (personal) attitude. So where would I fall into this spectrum? Simple- smack dab in the middle!
Which is ideal to anyone that is not experienced with public communications.
(Yes, I am referring to myself!)
Below, I have listed a couple of different blogs that I found while searching for inspiration.

 Hit Home

This post is top on my list simply because it is hilariously knocking me down memory lane! Think back middle school or even elementary, how many incidences involved you being locked out of somewhere? For me, I have had a few and let me just emphasize the desperate measure my family has taken to avoiding calling a locksmith! For instances, when my sister and I were in middle school, she was notorious for loosing our only shared house key,so much that my parents did not replace it. So hot days after school were spent sitting outside in the sun waiting.... Of course, we eventually devised our own "tool" that would unleash the three locks around the back door. Once my dad found out how we were getting into the house, he reinforced security in that area. By the time we were in high school, we had devised so many techniques, that we no longer cared about having keys. Oh boy, remembering my sister and I laughing ,at how angry my dad would become, brings the largest smile to my face!

Damn Funny-- Blog Repost

tumblr_ncfi45yY9L1r5zq6ao1_500.gif (500×292)
"your face at a party after your already faded and your homie just walked in"
his blog clip I found is obviously not very inspirational ( well hopefully not to anyone that I know at least) .This one is simply per entertainment. After I read the caption, I could not help but to "laugh out load", so I wanted to share the laughter with you!

Perspective:The Ultimate Bitch Slap

http://lisanewlin.com/blog

This last blog post was the most inspirational one I have seen so far.  In a brief description, Lisa Newlin, a well known blogger, talks about her ongoing health issues and the negative impact they have recently have had on her motivation and how terribly depressed she is becoming. As I read her story I begin to think, "ok...shes blogged just to complain..stupid.."

Well I'm sure everyone knows what they say about people that assume.

So with that in mind, she continues to talk about her husband and how after she described her dilemma to him, he sent her a video (the one above). I just melted inside after watching it. Fallowing that, her attitude completely changed into something admirable. She talks about how much support she has, how some people are in worse situations, and how silly she felt for allowing something she has no control over, change her outlook on life; A reality check. The process she goes through reminds me of many of mine. Plus, my assuming negative towards the purpose of her article was out of my character. Therefore, it was as if I myself  had a reality check thrown my way as well which would be, not to judge a book by the cover. Because we know what assuming does, it makes an ass out of you and me!

Lets Talk-- WALL-E

First of all, I this is one of my favorite movies. Its characters are genuine and pure which is definitely a refreshing experience!

However, there was certain this things that I was bothered by. By this, I'm referring to the clip that demonstrates human dystonia (displayed below). Through out the scene, various impressions of human activities are portrayed. Like, eating habits, communications, living arrangements, etc.  Basically, a gimps into the future if you will.

  Sneak Peak

Why does this not sit well with me?
the simple fact that is contains many truths that we hold today so its like foreseeing what could become of mankind, and it is a depressingly hard spoonful to swallow.

To elaborate, I feel society is well on its way to little or no physical human interaction with one another causing a negative effect on civilization social development.
Such as shown in the last 30 seconds of the clip.
As the camera glides through the crowd, notice a man, by the pool, he sluggishly shouts, "...Shade!" and a robotic assistant flings an umbrella over him which provides his shade. Also take note, that no one around the pool or anywhere else is talking, touching, or just enjoying each other's company.

Another discouragement I felt was, just passed the two minute point of the film during Wall-e's first train ride. As Wall-e attempts to be more near Eva, he is completely unacknowledged by the women between the two of them. Despite desperately waving his arms in front of her, he is unable to receive any of her attention until accidentally disabling her projection. Her reaction is unbelievable! It appears that she hadn't ever turned off her screen and looked at anything around her. It is truly misfortune when a person's environment is alien to them Not to mention, the depth of stimulation it took Wall-e to get her attention. This reminds me of how everyone is too preoccupied with their electronic devices (phones,iPod,tablets,etc.). So much that, in order to get most people to pay attention, an obnoxious approach is the only way to be successful.

Ultimately, this movie only implies a mirror into what could become of the world. With that in mind, anyone that has taken time to analysis the tedious details surely can see its comparison to how the world functions today. With that in mind picture this, decades from now, everyone has  become more lazy, on their electronic equipment constantly, and have the attention span of a raccoon.

.....Hmm.. remind you of anything?

Ms. Intro

One of my favorite pictures!

My name is Monae Tanner and I am 25 years old.I was born and raised in Glendale Arizona. I have a son that just turned a year old, Christian.Truthfully, my entire world changed after I became a mother. I learn something new about myself everyday. Recently in fact, after I took several years off, I spontaneously decided that I wanted to go back to school for a higher education.
While I am attending Glendale Community College, I anticipate finding a career choice that I am confident I am passionate about. For now, I have thought about working towards an Associate's Degree in Business Science or transferring my credits to Gateway Community College, so that I may enter The EEG Tech Program.Despite, the these two wonderful ideas, I feel that there is something better for me out there.
March 2015 first time holding my little man.
How about outside of school? Well in the past, I have enjoyed collecting recyclables (ha ha I am aware, it is a strange hobby!) However, because I am able to hold the materials until a rainy day, I see it as leisure spent productively. For instance, my first year of college, I was not prepared for the cost of my books.Thankfully, I had built up so much stuff that once I took it to the scrap yard, I had more than enough money for my school supplies.
On the weekends, in between my homework of course, I like doing yard work because I think of it as an alternative workout for my exercise.Plus, it helps keep the house cleaned up and well kept.
Another activity that I participate is swimming, especially since it has been like an inferno outside! Moreover, the pool is an excellent source of water therapy that my son may benefit from.
To conclude, I would like to acknowledge my lack of blogging experience and I am eager to become more sufficient by the end of the summer!
